World's WORST Blogger
And people wonder WHY I don't do Facebook. I don't know how people can manage their time to keep up with blogs, FB, Twitter, etc. and get anything done. Well, here it is almost August and I'm trying to play 5 months of catch-up.
I have SO enjoyed this wedding season. My clients have all been just super. The venues, my fellow wedding vendors have all been great. I've literally shot from north Alabama to the Gulf Coast, from Auburn to Tuscaloosa. It's been kinda cool in that I've met and worked with a bunch of people I have never worked with before and I've been to some really nice new venues.
My August and the rest of the year are shaping up to be very, very busy. Looking forward to the rest of the year! And - I've been booking a lot of weddings for next year. People sometimes ask "how far out do you get booked?" The range has literally been between 2 YEARS and 2 WEEKS! Generally, I'm booked about 9 months out. Photographers a bit more. And many wedding venues.Wednesday, March 27, 2013
A Very Special Wedding
SOMEONE... and I can't remember who... texted me and said "So I guess our wedding wasn't blog worthy, huh?" That's a direct quote. So it got me to thinking... aren't ALL weddings blog worthy? For me, yes. And I used to really keep up and blog about every wedding. But I got to thinking... "what ONE wedding last fall really stood out?" And then - inspiration hit me! It was the wedding of my favorite photographer and great pal Ann Wade Parrish! Yes! The SAME Ann Wade Parrish I get to hear about when I meet new photographers (typical comment: "So your the videographer who's buddies with that Ann Wade Parrish, huh?"). YES - THAT Ann Wade Parrish. Hey - if everyone in the wedding "business" was like Ann Wade, we'd all be much happier campers. I digress...
So there it is... my blog about Ann Wade Parrish's excellent wedding! As I told them - I wish them all of God's richest blessings.
Five years ago, I met Ann Wade while shooting a wedding in Enterprise, Alabama. After that wedding, we worked (what seemed like) all the time. She would refer tons of her clients to me. We WORKED so well together. ANYWAY - I told her a long time ago that whenever she got married, I'd shoot the wedding for her.
She met the love of her life Briggs a few years back. (OK - she met Briggs on a blind date set up by their respective grandmothers who live right next to each other. I can't make this stuff up.) On October 27, 2012, the wedding was held near Santa Rosa Beach, Florida (Ann Wade's telling of the wedding is MUCH better than mine...). Ann Wade
was the perfect bride. Seriously. Calm, enjoying every moment. I had a BLAST. I got to meet her WONDERFUL parents that I had heard so much about over the years. I got to meet Briggs' wonderful family. And the wedding party... it's like I had known all of them my entire life. Especially Briggs' buddies from Kentucky. We had some serious fun. Great rehearsal dinner hosted by Briggs' parents, super reception after the ceremony. So there it is... my blog about Ann Wade Parrish's excellent wedding! As I told them - I wish them all of God's richest blessings.

2013 Wedding Season has kicked-off!
From south Alabama to north Alabama, wedding season has kicked-off! Probably a poor choice of words considering we're presently in "March Madness" and the end of college basketball season. It's been probably the coldest March that I can remember and there have been a lot of cold outdoor weddings. Most have been inside some beautiful churches and homes.

January 2013
It's been really hard for me lately to keep this "thing" up to date. One of the many issues - writing about my weddings. It's been... redundant... to keep saying "Went to Birmingham to shoot Jack and Jill's wedding. Everything was perfect. Had a great time with the family and friends." Because - every wedding is (to me) perfect. There's always some very small details that the bride wished would have been better (the caterer, the DJ, etc.) but by and large, the guests never noticed anything being out of place. I've been incredibly blessed to have terrific clients. Like Katie and Sam (clients from last summer) who sent me a Christmas photo. Yeah - this is why I do what I do... the many, many "Katie and Sam's" that are out there.
